One cold winter in 1972, when I was not even a teenager but just 9 years of age, my parents were away on a holiday for a fortnight. They really needed it and I felt that I could let them have it without a murmur of being without them. From a very small age I used to live with my grandparents, they always took great care of me and I felt at home with their tender love and concern.

I was taught many Bible stories from a little girl of 3 years and as I was growing up I felt I should make a difference no matter what it may cost me. Having this aim in mind I would spend all my time very wisely, because I wanted to make a difference.

One fine spring afternoon an elderly couple visited us. Their names were Roy and Betty. Roy was in a dark brown suit and Betty was clothed in a blue polyester outfit which had two buttons missing and a stain on the collar. Her toes peeked out from her timeworn sandals. I really felt that I should render some kind of assistance to them. I ran to my grandparents and asked if they could help the couple to get better clothes especially being with Christmas round the corner, but they replied saying “They did not ask”. But I wanted to make a difference, so I ran to my saving chest and grabbed all my pocket money that I had saved to buy myself a piano to play for the Sunday school as I was already come to my 4th grade in music. Without hesitation I put the savings in a brand new box which I treasured very much and handed it over to the elderly couple. They were astounded and reached out their trembling…… hands and accepted the gift and said “Thank you for your sacrificial love, you have made a difference and have shed abroad the real values of Christ – like love in this sacrifice which you have made”.

After many days a family friend visited the little girl’s home. Do you know what they brought with them?  WOW! It was a brand new piano just the one she wanted to buy with her small bit of savings. So you see children how Jesus rewarded this girl’s cheerful giving.

JESUS SAID IN LUKE 6:38 GIVE TO OTHERS, AND GOD WILL GIVE TO YOU: YOU WILL RECEIVE A FULL MEASURE, A GENEROUS HELPING, POURED INTO

YOUR HANDS- ALL THAT YOU CAN HOLD. THE MEASURE YOU USE FOR OTHERS IS THE ONE GOD WILL USE FOR YOU.

HELPING OTHERS IS A WAY OF SHOWING GOD’S LOVE.
