“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is” (Jeremiah 17:7).

There are spiritual laws that come into operation, according to our moral attitude to God and to His Word. “Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is”.(Jeremiah 17:7)  “Cursed be the man that trusteth in man and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord”(Jeremiah 17:5) We see that God’s blessing comes upon the godly and barrenness and lack comes upon the ungodly. ‘Curse’ means blessings withheld  and ‘blessing’ means curse withheld. To trust man and make the arm of flesh our confidence is a very dangerous thing, because such a man departs from God. Our deliverance, satisfaction and blessing can never come through the wisdom of man. “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.”( Psalm 118:8,9) Who are the blessed?  What are his blessings?

The people who give the Lord their undivided confidence of their heart are called ‘blessed.’ There are four- fold blessings mentioned in Jeremiah 17: 8.

  1. BEAUTIFUL POSITION: “He shall be like a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river” (Jeremiah 17:8). A person who trusts the Lord is like a tree planted by the rivers of waters. He is planted for a purpose. He is saturated by  the Word of God and filled with the Spirit of God. There is plentiful supply by the waters. The continuous flow of God’s grace are at his disposal. He can stand firm because he is planted in Christ. He has got a position of security and favour from God. He is unshakeable in the midst of the storms of life, because he is deep-rooted. He gets his nourishment, stability and strength from the Lord. He shall not lack any good thing. The Lord will not fail him. If you are situated by the Spirit of God, you will be saturated by the power of God. Your root system is nothing but your personal, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. Praying and meditating God’s Word, will cause your roots to grow deep into the love of God. Say to the Lord, “Lord, I will spread out my roots by the river of your Holy Spirit, I will saturate myself with Your Word and I will strengthen my communion with You this month.”
  2. JOYFUL PROTECTION: “He shall not see when heat cometh” (Jeremiah 17:8). Drought will have no effect on a tree that’s planted by the river. The believer who is planted by the river of God, will not be alarmed by the happenings he sees around him. Nothing will disturb him. His trust is in his God and he knows that his God is with him. If you are close to the Lord, no evil can draw nigh unto you. You will not feel the heat of your problems or terrible circumstances around you. Imagine the three Hebrew men in the midst of the furnace when it was made seven times hotter. Although there was terrible heat inside, these three men did not feel the heat. The fire had no power over their bodies. In that fire, others were consumed, but they walked with their God. Cultivate a fresh walk with your God, so that you can shine brightly for your God. Others will be a victim in the fire of their adversity, but you will be a victor in the midst of the same. Others will be destroyed but you will be developed in that same fire. The fire has two different effects: a. Preserving effects upon the godly. b. Prevailing effects upon the ungodly. When you set right your connection with God, you will enjoy protection. You will not see when the heat comes.
  1. WONDERFUL PROMOTION: “Her leaf shall be green and shall not be careful in the year of drought”(Jeremiah 17:8). There is an abiding freshness for all those who abide in Christ. The leaf of their testimony will ever be green. Every day they will experience something new from the Lord. They will be free from cares, worries and the fearful trials of the day. They will have a new testimony to share with others all the time. They shall not be worried in the year of drought. Although there is famine all around them, they shall be satisfied. Think of Isaac who sowed in the year of famine and received an hundredfold blessing. Many people in the land would have made fun of him and many would have said that he was a foolish man. He was not worried about what they said because his trust was in the God of his father Abraham. Expect a supernatural, Holy Ghost revival in your life this month. No more weariness, depression, discouragement or disappointments. You will be like a green tree. Do not look around you, if you do, you will be worried. Put your trust in the Lord and he shall prosper you.“Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For after all these do the Gentiles seek: for your Father knoweth that you have need of all these things”(Matthew 6:31, 32). Seek God this month as never before, then all these things will be added to you. David said, “I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever” (Psalm 52:8).
  2. FRUITFUL PROGRESSION: “Neither shall cease from yielding fruit” (Jeremiah17:8). The never failing river of life, produces fruitfulness unto God in those who receive of its fullness. It all depends on your connection with Jesus Christ. “I am the vine, you are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). This blessedness comes by faith. You will no longer be barren. You will be a continual fruit-bearing Christian all the twelve months of the year. This month, God will cause you to bear fruit in two ways: You will be fruitful in the ministry of soul winning; secondly, you will bear the fruit of the spirit. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law” (Galatians 5:22,23). Our fellowship with the Lord is the secret of our fruitfulness for the Lord. This month, strengthen your fellowship with the Lord.  “Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God”(Hebrews 3:12).

Psalm 1:1-3 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in His law doth he meditate day and night.  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

Truths found in Psalm  1:1-3.

A blessed man is separated from the counsel of the ungodly.

2.A blessed man is saturated by the Word of God.

3.A blessed man is situated by the river of God, The Holy Spirit.
