I am David Paneerselvam. I come from a Hindu background. My father was a railway employee, earning a good salary, yet we lived in poverty because he was an alcoholic. There was no peace in our family. My younger brother worked in a chemical manufacturing company, earning a small salary and I worked in a printing press.

One day, my father did not return home after work. None of us knew of his whereabouts. As a family, we sought the Hindu deities and fortune tellers in order to get back my father but it was of no avail. On seeing our desperation, an elderly believer who stayed near our home, told us about the love of Jesus Christ. She prayed fervently that my father would be restored back to us. The Lord miraculously brought my father back.

The Lord            Jesus Christ graciously delivered my father from his addiction. As a family, we committed our lives to the Lord and accepted Him as our Lord and Saviour. Thereafter, there was a great peace in our family. We started to attend the main A.C.A. at Purasawalkam and as a family took water baptism. Later, we joined A.C.A. Perambur.

A few months later, a great tragedy struck our family. My brother was seriously injured in a fire that broke out at his factory. The doctors tried their best to save him, but it was all in vain. He had gone to be with the Lord. Although it was a loss to us, we had the confidence and assurance that he is with the Lord. Our relatives and friends  accused  my family for the death of my brother. They said that the accident happened because we left the Hindu faith. But we believed the Word of God which says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to  His purpose” (Romans 8:28).

Our Pastor and some believers visited our home and prayed for us. They encouraged us in the Lord. The Lord did not leave us comfortless. The Lord began to bless us in every walk of life. He enabled us to build our own house. He blessed me with a good life partner and met all the marriage expenses. God has also blessed me with two lovely children. My daughter, Naomi has completed her 12th  Board exams and my son will be doing his 10th this year.

The Lord has been our Ebenezer. He has taken us through many difficulties and painful paths, yet He has not left us. He has given His peace in the times of trouble and taught us His Word. He has also given me a small ministry of working in His sanctuary. He has met every need of ours, physical, emotional and financial. I thank God for the spiritual family that He has given us. We give all glory to His Matchless Name.

“For this God is our God for ever and ever: He will be our guide even unto death” (Psalm 48:14).
