“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom He hath chosen for His inheritance”(Psalm 33:12).

Do you know that you are a blessed person? The reason is that thou art an holy people unto the Lord, thy God. The Lord, thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto Himself, above all the people that are on the face of the earth, to be His treasured possession. The Lord did not set His love upon you nor choose you because you were holy or righteous, efficient or capable. Absolutely not. It is simply because of His grace that He has chosen you.

There are four fold blessings for God’s chosen ones:

1.PARDONED PEOPLE: “He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the shout of a King is among them”(Numbers23:21). Jacob, in time past, had been a supplanter and a cheat but God in His mercy had forgiven him. Now God saw him as a righteous man. We too, were once sinners and we have fallen short of God’s standards. But when we confessed our sins to God, He forgave us, cleansed us and now we can stand before Him with a pure conscience. “Blessed is the man whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered”(Romans 4:7). Friend, wherever you are, whatever you have done in the past, Jesus Christ can forgive you and give you a clear conscience. Why not confess your sins to Him and get right with your maker today? The best eraser is an honest confession to God. He erases all your sins when you confess them to Him. Do not let your dark past cloud your bright future. God wants all your inner garbage of sin. The moment you confess your sins to the Lord, He casts them into the depths of the sea and remembers them no more. Then, we can stand before Him with a pure conscience. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”(I John 1:9). “Who can lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth, who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again” (Romans 8:33,34).

2.POWERFUL PEOPLE: “God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn”(Numbers 23:22). We are powerful people not in ourselves, but in the strength of the Holy Spirit. God gives us the strength of an unicorn. He often accomplishes great and marvellous things through few, weak people. In that way, God is glorified and we can remain humble because we know that it is not us, but God who worked. In the book of Judges, we read about a man called Shamgar. He had nothing but an ox goad, but he had the Lord with him. He slew six hundred men with that ox goad and delivered his nation, Israel from the hand of the Moabites (Judges 3:31). He did not shrink back from the task that was entrusted to him. The task that he performed was not natural, because it was the strength of the Lord. “Not by might, nor by power, but by My spirit saith the Lord of Hosts”(Zechariah 4:6). Dear child of God, you may be weak, despised and rejected, but you can be a mighty instrument in the hand of the Lord if you yield your will to Him. Do not be discouraged or doubt the talents God has given you. You may not have much to offer, but God wants to use you, if you are willing to yield yourself to do His will and fulfil His purpose. Remember that mighty things are done by those who depend on God’s power. Tell the Lord, ‘Lord, I do not depend on my strength, my talents or experience, but I depend on you.’

3.PROTECTED PEOPLE: “There is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel”(Numbers 23:23). If you are a true child of God, nobody can do anything against you. Do not say that someone has done witchcraft against you. It dishonors God. Nobody can curse you. You are protected under the mighty armour of God and by the Blood of Jesus Christ. You are hidden in Christ, in the secret place of the most High. Our refuge is in the clefts of the Rock, Jesus Christ. “The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it and is safe”(Proverbs 18:10). David was hiding in the cave of Engedi for fear of King Saul. Although David was very close to King Saul, Saul could not see David, because God hid David. Therefore, David wrote this Psalm while he was in the cave: “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress , and my deliverer”(2 Samuel 22:2). ‘Friend, if you are in Christ, the enemy cannot touch you. You have nothing to fear or fret, for you are in the rock.’ Our refuge is in the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, do not take refuge in anything else.“Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might”(Ephesians 6:10). King Balak was terrified of the Israelites when he heard all that they did to the nations around Moab, and so he hired Balaam to curse God’s people. But Balaam could not curse the people of God but blessed them instead. He said, “I called thee to curse mine enemies, and behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times”(Numbers 24:10).When God is for His people, no one can harm them. This month you will experience Divine protection.

4.PLEASANT PEOPLE: “The Lord his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them” (Numbers 23:21). God’s people are a pleasant people because they have the joy of the Lord. The chosen of the Lord are always joyful, energetic and effective. They come into His presence with joy and focusing on the Lord, their God. “And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads; they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away” (Isaiah 35:10). It does not mean that they will not have problems, troubles or sorrow. They come into God’s presence with their problems and also with joy and singing. As they rejoice in the Lord with songs of praise and worship and as they become engrossed in the Lord and glorify God, their sorrow and sighing flee away. They leave the presence of God completely delivered by the mighty power of God. It is God’s plan that we rejoice in Him at all times. “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, rejoice” (Philippians 4:4). God’s people can be in the worst situation, but if their God is with them, they can rejoice. “Happy is that people whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 144:15). Is your life totally surrendered to the Lord? Is the Almighty God your Lord? If not, make Him the Lord, master and managing director of your life. Let Him control your life. Then you will experience joy and peace even in difficult times.  If He is not the Lord of all, He is not the Lord at all.

The Almighty God has chosen you. He has chosen you as His own people, His own nation and His own inheritance. God has adopted us into the Royal family of God. Today we are sons and daughters of the Almighty God. God has removed the stigma of Egypt from off our lives. Now we can call the creator of the Universe as our heavenly Father. The Bible is the legal adoption document we have today. We are not only born into the family of God but we are also born again. We are born of the incorruptible seed, the Word of God.

“But ye  are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (I Peter 2:9).
