My family were ardent Roman Catholics. We lived in Chindadripet. One Sunday afternoon, a lady  knocked on our door and asked me if she could teach me the Bible. This came as a shock to me, but I was very interested to learn the Bible. I welcomed this simple, humble lady (Mrs. Andrew) into my house. She began from the book of Genesis. I was so engrossed that I did not want her to stop. She asked me if she could come again and I told her that she was most welcome.

After she left, I began thinking about the book of Genesis. As she began visiting my house, I came to know about worshiping the true God and it was sin to worship idols. When I told my husband, he told me to remove them. But after removing them and throwing them into the Cooum river, I was scared. We as a family started to go for the Jehovah’s witness meetings. I was worried about my children as they did not receive their first holy communion in the Roman Catholic Church. I wanted to know more about Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and when I refused to be baptized by the Jehovah’s witnesses, that lady stopped coming to my house.

Later, I met another lady who was from the Church of God, and they used to hold meetings at the Anna Auditorium, near the Marina beach. We used to attend those meetings too, but this also did not convince me. Later, in 1992, we shifted our residence to Perambur and stayed in Anand Bala apartments. We never went to the Roman Catholic Church and we were searching for a good Church.  I began to get worried about my children.

One Sunday morning, I saw Aunty Baynes and other Anglo Indian ladies coming out of Parthasarathy Street. I asked her where she went and she told me that she was attending the Apostolic Christian Assembly. I requested her to wait for me the next Sunday. As promised I went with her to the Church alone, and during the worship, the first song Pastor sang was, ‘Ás the deer panteth for the water.’ This song was enough to convince me that this was the Church I was in search of. I cannot explain how excited and thrilled I was when the service was over. Aunty Baynes introduced me to Pastor and sister Harriet and I was blessed to meet them. After that Pastor and sister visited my house and prayed for us, from then on we began to attend this Church. We also began to grow in the Lord. We committed our lives to Jesus and obeyed Him in waters of baptism. This Church has been a blessing to my family.

My husband was a musician (Bass guitarist) by profession and he was playing for the hotel industry which I was not very pleased about.  I kept praying fervently to God to give him a better job.  God was so faithful in opening up a door of employment in the oil industry ( Off-shore rig). From that time on God began to bless our family in a wonderful way. God has also blessed our two children Wendy and Dennis with good jobs and a good family. I thank God that they are all saved and very much in the Lord. I like to conclude this testimony by saying that ever since we began to attend the early morning worship we have been immensely blessed. All glory to God!
