“For this God is our God for ever and ever:

He will be our guide even unto death” (Psalm 48:14).

The above verse portrays God as our Everlasting Guide. He is the great God. The name ‘God’ occurs eight times in this Psalm. It refers to a new beginning. As you are still in the beginning of 2020, the LORD promises that as an Everlasting Guide, He will grant a new beginning to you and your family. In the Old Testament and in the New Testament, there are many examples of God’s guidance. There are also very clear statements that depict the LORD as our Guide. These Biblical incidents and verses show us that we need His guidance. “O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps” (Jeremiah 10:23). It is God who directs and orders our steps. The LORD will guide us for the rest of the year in a marvelous way. We need a guide when we do not know the way. This month, the Lord assures you that He will be your Strengthening Guide, Teaching Guide, Revealing Guide, Correcting Guide and Saving Guide.

1. STRENGTHENING GUIDE: “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee” (Genesis 12:1). The LORD guided Abraham in verse1 to go to a place that God would show him. After showing the place, the LORD strengthened him by appearing to him in verse 7. “And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him” (Genesis 12:7). When Abraham obeyed God’s guidance and left his home, he would have felt lonely in a strange place. But the LORD made him to understand that he was not alone. Even in this year 2020, you may have to face strange situations and circumstances that lead to insecurity and uncertainty. But do not worry, your strengthening Guide says, “I will guide and strengthen you this month.” Abraham left for a place that he did not know. Yet he did not question God as to where God was leading him. In the same way, we need not question Him, for He is the Omniscient God. The steps of a righteous man are ordered by the LORD. He will never make a mistake. This month, the LORD will be your strengthening guide.

2. TEACHING GUIDE: “But when it pleased God, who separated me from mother’s womb, and called me by His grace, to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood” (Galatians 1:15,16). The phrase, ‘To reveal His Son in me,’ depicts that God is our Teaching Guide. Apostle Paul had a tremendous desire to know the LORD right from the first encounter that he had with the LORD. He enrolled Paul in the school of special divine learning and began to teach him by revealing the Son of God. When we have the two things called eagerness and earnestness, the LORD will be our Teaching Guide. Paul had the eagerness to learn from God and earnestness to know the LORD. Philippians 3:8 “….. I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.” Our soul needs the knowledge of God which is the one needful thing that cannot be taken away. God teaches us to profit. “Thus saith the LORD ….. I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go” (Isaiah 48:17).

3. REVEALING GUIDE: “ And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: ” (Exodus 13:21). The phrase, ‘to lead them the way’ explains God as the Revealing Guide. Moses and the children of Israel marched towards the land that the LORD promised them. The LORD guided them through the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night. He revealed to them the way towards Canaan. Moses and the children of Israel were anxious and curious to know about their future place of settlement. This was the reason why God wanted to be their Revealing Guide. You may be worried about what is about to happen this month. You may also want to know about the future of your children. But God will reveal His presence and guide you as the Revealing Guide. When the LORD reveals to you the way, you will be free from all cares. The LORD did not take away His presence. “He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people” (Exodus 13:22). Except for Joshua and Caleb who clung to the LORD, most of the people missed the way in the wilderness for they did not look to God. These few inherited the promised land. When God reveals His way, you will reach your destiny.

4. CORRECTING GUIDE: “And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of” (Genesis 26:2).. The phrase ‘Go not down into Egypt’ denotes that God is our Correcting Guide. There was a famine in the land, as bad as the famine during the time of Abraham. Isaac wanted to go down to Egypt just as his father did during the famine. But God intervened and corrected him. God said, “Don’t go down to Egypt; stay where I tell you. Stay here in this land and I’ll be with you and bless you.” This month, God will be your Correcting Guide. A man makes mistakes when he is ignorant and also when he is arrogant. The people who do not know the way to reach their destiny, falter in their way. But those who do not know the way and do not humble themselves to ask for direction will end up in failure. Both ignorant and arrogant ones need the ministry of the Correcting Guide. Isaac wanted to leave for Egypt ignorantly. But the LORD corrected him and stopped him. God will correct you when you are ignorant. But Naomi arrogantly went to Moab when there was a famine in the land. But God corrected her and brought her back to Bethlehem. This month, listen to the voice of the Correcting Guide. “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left” (Isaiah 30:21).

5. SAVING GUIDE: “Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side” (2 Chronicles 32:22). Sennacherib, King of Assyria came and attacked Judah. He put the fortified cities under siege, and determined to take them. This Sennacherib came against Hezekiah after he had set right the temple of the LORD according to God’s Word. “In every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered” (2 Chronicles 31:21). If you feel that you are surrounded by your enemies as Hezekiah was, make sure that you build your spiritual temple according to the Holy Oracle. God will fight against your enemies and protect you as the Saving Guide. Sometimes you may hear the threatening words and feel the rattling fear within you. All around the world, the Churches are being persecuted. But the spirit of Sennacherib shall be put to shame and be destroyed. God sent an angel who wiped out every Assyrian enemy. Sennacherib was forced to return home in disgrace. When he went into the temple of his god, his own sons “slew him there with the sword” (2 Chronicles 32:21). This month, God shall be your Strengthening Guide, Teaching Guide, Revealing Guide, Correcting Guide and Saving Guide.
