God is pleased to manifest Himself.  In creation, God is manifesting His wisdom and His workmanship.  The Heavens declare the glory of God and the earth His handiwork.  In Jesus Christ, God is manifesting His love for our salvation. In the lives of His redeemed, He desires to manifest His saving grace.

The life of Jesus is the ideal life to be followed.  The life of a Christian is to be in measure, a spiritual reproduction.  Many aspects of the life of Christ have been written, but the most effective and God-honouring is the living one.

THE LIFE OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST WAS AN IDEAL LIFE –

1. A LIFE BORN OF GOD :

Jesus was born from above “And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35).

He could say “I am from above.  I  came down from Heaven”. He was God manifest in the flesh.  If then, the life of Jesus has to be made manifest in our mortal flesh; we must be born of God, born from above.  Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.  How then can he live the life of Jesus, if he has not received the life of Jesus?  Christ must live in us, if His life is to be manifested by us.

2. A LIFE YIELDED TO GOD :

“Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.” (John 5:19).

It was a life fully surrendered to the Divine will. At His baptism He gave Himself up to fulfill the righteousness of God.  The key note of His life was: “Not my will, but Thine be done”.  What an example for all who desire to live the life of Jesus in their mortal bodies!  Complete  surrender to God’s Word, Will and Work was needful for Jesus.  How much more it is needful for us in seeking to live His life and to do His Work.

3. A LIFE EMPOWERED BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD :

“How God hath anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” (Acts 10:38).

Being made in the likeness of sinful flesh, He made Himself dependent on the power of the Holy Spirit given Him by the Father.  He knew that all His disciples needed this spiritual endowment from on High if they were to be true witnesses for Him.  We are called to live this life of Jesus with the power of the Holy Spirit. Live for God with the power of the Holy Spirit. Serve God with the authority of the Holy Spirit.

4. A  LIFE OF FAITH IN GOD :

Jesus was steadfastly set to do the will of His Father at any cost.  His faith in the Father had no tremor of doubt. Jesus had tremendous faith in His Father even when he was standing before the tomb of Lazarus. In( JOHN  11: 41, 42) “Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said. Father, I thank Thee that Thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always, but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me” We too need the steadfast faith of the Lord Jesus.  Do you possess the unwavering faith? True faith is pinning our faith on our Master in times of perilous situations, stormy seas and impossible circumstances.

5. A LIFE CROWNED WITH VICTORY :

It was one prolonged battle with one prolonged victory.  His words were all victories of wisdom.  His miracles were all victories over human weaknesses. His dying was His victory over the world’s sin.  His resurrection was the victory over mortality, death and the grave.  He knew no defeat. May we who are called upon to manifest “The life of Jesus” in our mortal flesh, expect to have victory all along our pilgrim’s life!

“So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.” (1 Corinthians 15:54) If Jesus Christ has conquered in us then in all these things we are more than conquerors.  Let us lead an ideal life, following the footsteps of the Master!
