Young woman reading bible“In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Colossians  2:3)

A person may have all the three or one of the three kinds of wisdom:

1. Self wisdom

2. Worldly wisdom

3. Heavenly wisdom

Of these three, as God’s children we need the wisdom that comes from above. Wisdom is life’s fundamental system. Wisdom is family’s support system. Wisdom is ministry’s lifeline system. “The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.” (Proverbs 3:35). “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price  is far above rubies” (Proverbs 31:10).

1. A WISE WOMAN IS A WOMAN OF PREPARATION:  “But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps” (Matthew 25:4). The five wise virgins awaited the Bridegroom’s coming with real preparation. They took oil in their lamps and vessels. “There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up” (Proverbs 21:20). There is sweet savour and power in the tabernacle of the wise. Even the foolish virgins were waiting for the Bridegroom. But they were not fully prepared to meet Him. The lamps of the foolish had gone out. “And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut” (Matthew 25:10). The ant, the wonderful creation of God so wisely gathers food in the summer for the winter. Joseph started saving the corn during the years of plenty before the famine could come.  We need to be prepared even now itself for the Lord’s coming. So let us be prepared with vigilance, sound mind, caution and prayer!

2. A WISE WOMAN IS A WOMAN OF PROTECTION:  “When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee” (Proverbs 2:10, 11). A wise woman safeguards her life and everything that belongs to her, through wisdom. A woman can protect her God-given gracious life through her wise words and works. “In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them” (Proverbs 14:3).  If the women could safeguard their lives with responsibility and wisdom, no evil power can touch them. Let us wisely put a fence around our spiritual life through our prayer and praise. Let us protect our families through wisdom.

3. A WISE WOMAN IS A WOMAN OF PROGRESSION: “And all the women that were wise hearted did spin with their hands, and brought that which they had spun, both of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine linen. And all the women whose heart stirred them up in wisdom spun goats’  hair” (Exodus 35:25, 26). Here wise women did cunning and talented works and progressed in their lives. They traded with their talents. The wise shall obtain victory after victory. For example, Jael wisely used the tent’s peg and the hammer with skill and killed the enemy Sisera, by hitting him in his forehead. She acted with divine wisdom and progressed in her life. Jael was a wise woman. Even David with divine wisdom used the sling and the stone skillfully and killed Goliath. The shepherd boy inherited the throne and succeeded in his life. If we wisely and skillfully use our talents, we shall become efficient and progress in our lives!
