“Delight thyself in the Lord and he shall give thee the desires and the secret petitions of thine heart” (Psalm 37:4).

Although David was made the King of Israel, his delight was not in the throne but in his God. He had a desire for God’s presence. He said, “I had rather be a door keeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness”(Psam84:10). “….that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life” (Psalm 27:4). In Old Testament times, a king could not enter the holy place, only a priest had the privilege. Can you imagine a king wanting to be a doorkeeper in the house of God? Since David’s delight was in the Lord, God wanted him to sit on the throne as long as he desired. All other kings lost their kingdoms because they were either defeated or died, but only David was able to give his kingdom to his son, Solomon, when he was alive. The greatest commandment in the Bible is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

  1. DIVINE DELIVERANCE: “Then Jesus answered and said to her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt, and her daughter was made whole from that very hour.”(Matthew 15:28). The daughter of a Canaanite woman was vexed with a devil and she was in a terrible state. Her desire was that her daughter should be delivered, but that did not stop her from worshipping the Lord. When she decided to delight herself in the Lord, the Lord delivered her daughter that very same hour. Her desire was granted. This is also true in the life of Jairus. “For he had only one daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a-dying ”(Luke 8:42).He was a ruler of the Synagogue. His daughter was at the point of death, and so he fell down at Jesus’ feet and requested that Jesus would come and heal his daughter. God honoured the faith of this ruler and raised his daughter from her death-bed. In both these cases, their daughters were delivered miraculously. What was the secret? The parents decided to delight themselves in the Lord. They proved their love for the Lord by worshipping Him in the time of their distress. This month, decide to delight yourself in the Lord. Say to the Lord, “ Lord, my mind is not on my problem but on you. I decide to rejoice in you.” This month, you will experience supernatural deliverance.
  1. DIVINE JUBILANCE: “The Jews had light, and gladness, and joy and honour” (Esther 8:16). Haman, the enemy of the Jews had plotted for their destruction. He troubled Esther very much. The lives of her people were at stake. They were in great sorrow. Esther had a desire to see her people spared, but she decided to delight herself in the king. The king repeatedly asked her what she would like to petition him about. He was willing to give her even half of the kingdom at her request, but she said, “O king, come to the banquet that I have prepared for you. I do not want your kingdom, but I want to fellowship with you.” It was at that time that the lives of her people were at stake, but she said within her heart, “If I delight myself in my King, he will fulfil all my heart’s desire.” Thus her desire was granted. The Jews were delivered and there was a great joy and jubilance in the whole land of Shushan, because one woman decided to delight herself in the King. If an earthly king can do that for Esther, how much more will the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords do for us, if we delight ourselves in Him. Dear sister, brother do you lack peace and joy in your family? Do you want God to turn your sorrow into joy this month? Delight yourself in the Lord. This is the secret of your miracle.
  1. DIVINE ACCEPTANCE: “And He said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace” (Luke 7:50). When the woman came to the house of Simon when she heard that Jesus was there, she did not have peace. She had been a sinner before, but she had repented of her sins and was forgiven. The Lord had changed her, yet people called her a sinner. This troubled her a lot. She came there in a heart- broken condition. She decided to delight herself in the Lord. She wanted to anoint the feet of Jesus, no matter what anyone said. She broke the alabaster box of ointment and anointed the feet of Jesus. That day, Jesus openly revealed his acceptance of her and proved to the other people there that she was no longer a sinner. That was her heart’s desire and Jesus fulfilled it that day. He openly acknowledged her spiritual condition before all the people. He said, “Daughter, go in peace.” Dear child of God, you need not prove to other people who you are. The Lord will prove to other people who you are, when you delight yourself in Him. You need not defend yourself. Just make the Lord your heart’s desire.
  1. DIVINE ASSISTANCE: “He took up the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan; and he took the mantle of Elijah and smote the waters and said, ‘Where is the Lord God of Elijah?’ and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither; and Elisha went over” (2Kings 2:13, 14). The anointing that was upon Elijah assisted Elisha in parting the river Jordan. The river Jordan could not hinder him because he delighted himself in Elijah. Elisha followed Elijah from Gilgal all the way to Jordan in order to get a double portion of the anointing that as upon Elijah. He said, “As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee” (2Kings 2:6). Therefore God granted him his desire. If you want the Lord to fulfil all your heart’s desires, then delight yourself in the Lord this month. It is also true in the case of Ruth. She delighted herself in the God of Naomi. Therefore she received divine assistance in finding the field of Boaz and also getting Boaz himself. This month, do you need divine assistance? Delight yourself in the Lord. The fulfilment of your heart’s desire depends on your heart’s delight.
